About

Hi, I’m Jens and I’m an OpenFOAM enthusiast since 2008, author, foam-extend contributor and entrepreneur. While working on my PhD in naval-architecture at the univeristy of Duisburg-Essen, I started to give university courses on OpenFOAM a couple of years ago. I’ve been fortunate enough to be one of the authors of “The OpenFOAM Technology Primer”.

This page started years ago, when I began working with OpenFOAM. Back in the day, there was virtually no documentation available that went beyond the User’s Guide and Programmer’s Guide. I figured that it might help other people as well, when I document some things that I learn while trying to understand OpenFOAM and it’s tools. That is when the snappyHexMesh tutorial series was born. With “The OpenFOAM Technology Primer” been written, there is now no real need to keep this series in this place, as the tutorials are short and obsolete.

Tomislav and I started sourceflux early in 2014, to publish “The OpenFOAM Technology Primer” indipendently and have the opportunity to provide consulting, teaching and development services to the OpenFOAM community.

I use this page mainly to express my personal thoughts and experiences, that don’t fit into the sourceflux blog. This page is powered by Octopress and based on this theme, with some minor modifications.

Some hints on how to get help on forums and newsgroups in a decent manner can be found here.
